As one of Loyola Marymount University’s fastest-growing departments, the School of Film and Television (SFTV) needed more space to accommodate an expanding student enrollment, new faculty and staff hires, and recently added degree and certificate programs. Waveguide provided audiovisual consulting and design for new buildings on the Westchester and Playa Vista campuses.
The new school on LMU’s Westchester main campus (pictured here) creates a link between academia and real-world working environments for technology and media production. It gives students and faculty access to a variety of learning environments that include state-of-the-art media production equipment, 24-hour-a-day project production schedules, and flexible and adaptable spaces. Waveguide provided audiovisual and acoustical consulting throughout the 20,000-square-foot facility, including smart classrooms, a camera classroom, digital labs, a computer lab, animation classroom, a large and small screening room with control booths and ten edit bays, among other spaces.
The university also acquired 50,000 square feet of off-campus space in the nearby Playa Vista neighborhood. This new facility includes nearly 24,000 square feet for the school’s screenwriting and production graduate programs. Waveguide provided audiovisual consulting for this project which included classrooms and instructional labs; media production and control spaces; collaboration and meeting spaces; and a media screening room.
